A breakthrough for worker advocates and tech.

NDWA Gig Worker Advocates negotiated a pilot program with Angi Services (previously known as Handy), to give Angi Services Pros benefits and a platform improvement process that can serve as a model for other online platforms.

This pilot with Angi Services was negotiated by NDWA Gig Worker Advocates, in consultation with the National Domestic Workers Alliance - who have been organizing domestic workers in the gig economy since 2017 - and uses Alia’s breakthrough benefits program for domestic workers to facilitate benefits for Angi Services Pros.

Angi Services Pros deserve benefits and a voice.

NDWA Gig Worker Advocate and Angi Services have launched a first-of-its-kind effort to make work better for domestic workers who find work online, including thousands of domestic workers on Angi Services. Workers who find jobs on the Angi app will get benefits and a platform improvement process that could serve as a model for worker voice on other online platforms.

These initiatives are part of a pilot program that will cover Angi Services Pros in Florida, Kentucky and Indiana over an initial two-year period.

Guaranteed minimum of $15 per hour.

Angi Services Pros deserve at least $15 for every hour they work on the platform.

Paid Time Off.

Angi Services Pros will receive $1.50 per hour in benefits contributions, which can be used for Paid Time Off and other benefits.

Occupational Accident Insurance.

Angi Services Pros will receive coverage for on-the-job injuries, associated medical costs, and lost wages.

Angi Services Pro Experience Initiative.

An advisory committee of Angi Services Pros will meet with Angi representatives on a regular basis, to offer their expertise on job quality and worker experience.
